The Faculty considers traditions of Russian radio engineering

school laid down by the inventor ofthe radio Alexander Popov. His followers and students defined trends in research

and the academic studies of Radio Engineering. The Faculty

scientists twice got State awards: for making automated transmitting sets for ships’ equipment and for making

multichannel satellite equipment for watching and registration of radiation in the near space.

The Faculty staff has wide sphere of scientific interests: broad-

banded communication systems; space radio engineering systems; laser radar, measuring and control complexes; electromagnetic compatibility and marine radar systems. Well-equipped computer laboratories are used for academic studies and research.

From the date of its foundation the Faculty have been following the latest developments of science, techniques and industry. Several years ago the Faculty started new program - Telecommunications.

Design of devices of images registration from mobile vehicles, the development of rapid acting

processors for radiospace video information analysis for ecology purposes, the development and research of virtual reality systems, applied radio physics - this is a short list of applied research works conducted at the Faculty.

The Faculty cooperates with universities of Finland, France, Italy, Sweden, China, Poland, Germany, the United States.
