• We cordially invite you to take part in the scientific conference, devoted to the 110 anniversary of A.S.Popov's public demonstration in 1895 of wireless transferring and receiving of radio signals, that laid the foundation to modern communication and radio engineering. The conference will be held at the St Petersburg State Electrotechnical University “LETI”, where A.S.Popov was a professor and the first elected director.
• The conference program includes visiting the A.S.Popov Memorial Museum in LETI, the Central Museum of Communication named after A.S.Popov, as well as other memorial places in St Petersburg and Kronstadt, connected with activities of A.S.Popov and his colleagues – pioneers of radio communication.
• During the conference a solemn unveiling of the memorial plaque commemorating A.S.Popov historical contribution into the development of wireless communication is planned in the LETI. We hope it will be established by IEEE History Center according to the IEEE Milestones program.
• During the conference IEEE Russia Northwest Section annual meeting and scientific session SPb-IEEE Con'05 will be held.

• The range of history problems to be discussed will cover the history of origin and development of electrical engineering, electronics, radio engineering, communication, computing.
• At the IEEE Russia Northwest Section scientific session papers (not only about a history) of the IEEE members will be presented in all Section Chapters fields:
  Aerospace Electronic Systems, Antennas and Propagation, Broadcast Technology, Circuits and Systems, Communications, Computers, Control Systems, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Electron Devices, Engineering Management, Industrial Electronics, Industry Application, Lasers and Electro-Optics, Microwave Technology and Technique, Neural Networks, Power Electronics, Power Engineering, Robotics and Automation, Signal processing, Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control.

• The deadline for sending by e-mail to <LIZolotinkina@mail.eltech.ru> and <a.mikerov@ieee.org> a registration form for the participation in the conference is
  January 31, 2005 . Please write your e-mail address for further correspondence
• The deadline for submission the full text of your paper in English in electronic form to the Program committee to <LIZolotinkina@mail.eltech.ru> and <yus@ieee.org> is February 20, 2005 . The total length of the paper shouldn't exceed 6 pages in format A4 as a word file (doc.) The guidelines for paper presentation/layout and submission will be sent to you by e-mail after receiving your registration form.
• All Conference papers will be published in the PROCEEDINGS of IEEE RUSSIA NORTHWEST SECTION (Year 2005).
• Participation fee is 150 Euros. It includes a copy of the Conference Proceedings, interpreter support, transfer from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport. Participation fee doesn't cover accommodation and social program (theaters, Hermitage museum, suburbs etc.)
• The deadline for paying the registration fee to the Treasurer of the Section Yu.I.Sepp <yus@ieee.org> is April 17, 2005. Late payment at the Conference –200 Euros.
• Conference participants will be accommodated at St. Petersburg hotels. The terms of payment for your hotel will be sent to you by e-mail after receiving your registration form.

The Conference will be held in St. Petersburg - Russia North cultural capital, the city of beautiful palaces, museums, broad prospects, more then 60 rivers, canals, 600 bridges and white nights. Conference Social program includes St. Petersburg sightseeing tour, visits to the Hermitage Museum, a Ballet Theatre, Suburbs (Peterhof)
